The first course of action to limit damage is the extraction of any excess water from your carpet. The quicker this water can be removed the better. The longer it is left the greater the chances of it being absorbed into the flooring materials, the skirtings and structural baseplates of the walls, thus making the task of dehumidifying that much more difficult.
With all flood water situations health hazards are an issue, hence the importance of cleaning the flooded carpet and applying an anti-microbial solution that inhibits waterborne bacteria and prevents the growth of mildew and mould.
In most flood situations the carpet will need to be lifted and the underlay removed and dried. Blowers are then installed to move the air under the carpet to accelerate drying. Our technicians will then monitor the moisture content of the floor and wall structures. If required dehumidifiers are installed to completely dry out the hard structures of the room before the carpet is relayed. This step is vital, as a carpet relayed too early, over a moist sub structure will lead to mould and odour problems with your carpet at a later stage.
The final step of the process is the relaying of the underlay and carpet by a qualified carpet layer to restore your room to its original condition.
